The inaugural Elite Performance Conference organised by Leinster Rugby’s Strength and Conditioning department, proved to be of great interest to ARTI members.
The conference, which took place at the RDS, at the end of October, had a number of ARTI members in attendance, while Diarmad Brennan, also spoke at the event.
Diarmaid, who recently assumed the role as Rehab Coach with Leinster Academy, gave a presentation on hamstring rehabilitation.
The talk by the Ratoath native and ARTI member, included the use of protocols to structure a hamstring programme.
The sold out event, which was open to all sports, proved hugely beneficial to all concerned with the hundreds in attendance including coaches, athletic therapists, physiotherapists and undergraduates.
Speakers include Daniel Tobin (Head of Fitness), Johnny Claxton (Senior Strength & Conditioning Coach), Daniel Davey (Performance Nutritionist) and Stephen Smith (Head of Rehabilitation).
The topics covered included:
Bridging the Injury Gap: Effective Decision Making in the Rehabilitation Process
Nutrition Strategies for Success in Team Sports
Matching Game Demands with Conditioning Strategies in Team Sports
Maximising Power Performance through the use of Plyometric Training
There were also be practical presentations on Strength & Power Methods, Rehabilitation Practices and types of conditioning typically performed by the professional players at Leinster Rugby.
